Nathalie R. Henaine, PsyD (she/they)
Identities: I hold multiple identities that inform the way I have lived and experienced the world. I am a queer, cis-bodied Latina woman who grew up in Chicago within a bicultural, bilingual household.
Education: I earned my PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Adler University, where I completed my dissertation on how adults who play MMORPG video games socialize and interact with others.
I've worked as a therapist in different roles, including college counseling, career counseling, community mental health, hospitals, and group practices. I am licensed in Illinois, and am a part of PSYPACT® (as a member, I am able to meet with clients online in participating US states).
Approaches: I use trauma-informed approaches, blending in attachment theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Brainspotting, and somatic psychotherapy.
This approach to therapy focuses on understanding the different "parts" of ourselves, how our brain and body work together, and the importance of re-connecting with our bodies in healing. I pay close attention to how your past experiences show up in your thoughts, emotions, body, and relationships.
In therapy, the relationship we co-create becomes the most critical, important part of healing. Our brains are designed to connect with others through our emotions, and to heal when we feel safe and supported.
Painful and traumatic experiences can leave us feeling overwhelmed, stuck, and alone. My focus is to co-create a safe and supportive space where clients can explore their feelings, learn to manage them, and experiment with new ways of being and to be present with them in their experience.
